Stephen King, HSBC Group's Chief Economist
Stephen joined HSBC in 1988, having previously been an economic adviser at the Treasury in the UK. Stephen is a regular economics commentator on television and radio, and since 2001, he has written a weekly column for The Independent, one of the UK's leading newspapers.

Hongbin Qu, HSBC's Chief Economist for China
Hongbin has been an economist in the financial markets for 12 years, in the past five with HSBC. He also worked for eight years as a senior manager for Bank of China and as a planning officer for the Shaanxi provincial government in China.

Seiji Shiraishi, Chief Economist for Japan
Joined April 2007, Seiji Shiraishi had previously served as an economist at a Japanese securities company for nine years and, before that, spent nine years with Chuo Trust & Banking Ltd. In early 2007, he was ranked number six in the Nikkei Bonds and Financial Weekly poll of economists.

David Bloom, Global Head of FX Research for HSBC
He has been with the Group since 1992. Before taking up his current post, specialising in currencies and market strategies, David was the US economist for the Bank. He also has work experience within equity markets and analysing the UK economy.

Steven Major, Global Head of Fixed Income
Steven Major is the Global Head of HSBC's Fixed Income Strategy team. He joined HSBC in July 2001 as Managing Director of the European Bond Strategy team and has since expanded his coverage and responsibilities to a wider range of markets. He is a highly ranked analyst with more than 20 years of experience in Fixed Income Research.

David May, Head of Equity Research for EMEA
David joined HSBC in December 2004 in the Equities division as Global Head of Knowledge/Product Management. He previously worked in a similar role, as well as being a sales person, within the equities division of a US investment bank.

Patrick Boucher, Head of Equity Research for the Americas
Prior to joining HSBC in 2006, Patrick spent 10 years at a large European investment bank, most recently as Head of Equity Research for Latin America. He has also worked in institutional equity sales, and as an equity analyst covering Latin American financial institutions.

Phil Poole, Global Head of Emerging Markets Research
Phil joined HSBC in June 2004 to head up the Group’s emerging markets research activities. He is developing a multi-asset class, cross-regional research product for the Group’s corporate and institutional clients. Prior to joining HSBC, Phil was Global Head of Emerging Markets Fixed Income Research and Chief Emerging Markets Economist for a major European investment bank.

Chris Georgs, Head of Equity Research for Asia
Chris joined HSBC in 2004 and has 12 years of experience in the industry, in research, operational management and as a publishing research analyst. Most recently, Chris was COO for Global Research in North America.

Will Manuel, Head of Equity Research for CEMEA
Will is Head of CEMEA Equity Research at HSBC. He joined HSBC in September 2000 as an equity analyst based in Israel, achieving a high rank in various external polls. Will has more than 16 years experience in equity markets, with 12 years in emerging markets.

Karen Ward, Economist
Before joining HSBC as UK Economist in 2006, Karen worked at the Bank of England where she provided supporting analysis for the Monetary Policy Committee. She has an MSc Economics from University College London.
