Asia-Pacific
Home to some 120,000 employees, the Asia-Pacific region is an ongoing success story for HSBC. It covers 24 countries and territories and includes some 1,100 offices. It's the most profitable region for the HSBC Group.
In addition to Hong Kong, one of the Group's two home markets, the Asia-Pacific region is home to 8 of the Bank's 22 priority growth markets around the world: Australia, mainland China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Opportunities linked to growth
With a platform that's already strong, we're committed to building even more links across the region and the rest of the world. Our Asian roots coupled with our international expertise mean we can offer our people unrivalled exposure to this dynamic marketplace - and the diverse career opportunities it offers.
HSBC in Hong Kong
HSBC's principal banking subsidiaries in Hong Kong are the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited and Hang Seng Bank Limited. The former is the largest bank incorporated in Hong Kong and is our flagship bank in the Asia-Pacific region. It is one of Hong Kong's three note-issuing banks, accounting for more than 65 per cent by value of banknotes in circulation in 2011.
Hong Kong is also the centre of HSBC's Asia-Pacific operations and is the focus of our regional and global network. We maintain a leadership position in Hong Kong across many of our core retail and wealth management products such as deposits, mortgages and cards in circulation.
Join us as an undergraduate or graduate in the region and you'll have genuine responsibilities and involvement in projects that are important, both regionally and globally. As you build the links that make us stronger, you'll have support from senior managers and opportunity for professional development. Ours is an international setting where you can expect to meet and work with a wide range of people.
HSBC in Shanghai
On 2 April 2007, HSBC China incorporated the previous mainland China offices of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited and began operation in Shanghai. Since then, we've continued to build on our strengths. Our investments in mainland China have already surpassed USD6 billion and our branch network makes us one of the largest banks in the country. Our focus on growth and our unique reach put us in a positive position for the future. HSBC China is using its resources to build a cross-border business.
HSBC in Singapore
We opened our doors in Singapore in 1877. Today, our flagship offices are still in Collyer Quay, where we've been since the start and we offer a broad range of services to personal, private and commercial customers. One of the earliest banks in Singapore, we've also become one of the most prominent.
HSBC in Seoul
HSBC has been active in Korea for over 110 years. We first entered the Korean market in 1897 in Jamul (Inchon), and returned in 1982 to open a branch in Busan. With 11 Korean branches, we're one of the largest investors among foreign banks in Korea. Our clients are attracted by our combination of local expertise and our strategy for growth. We build relationships that are based on market knowledge and a deep understanding of our clients' needs.
Opportunities in Seoul for students studying outside the area
We welcome applications from local as well as international candidates. To apply for a position on our Global Analyst Induction Programme in Korea, you need to be in your final year of study.
