What has surprised me most after joining HSBC is its chain franchise. HSBC has been integrating all its groups to serve the clients and build up this unbreakable relationship. It's actually been partnering with clients from a very young age to a very old age and it's usually not only for three of four years but over 30 years, so I think this kind of unbreakable relationship is definitely not easily substituted by other players in the market.

There are going to be two big trends within investment banking. The first one is that companies are going to be more focused on risk control because this is in line with actions from the global regulators as well as the big external market.

The second big trend is that companies will be focusing on new business regions and new business. So, to my understanding, HSBC has adapted itself well to these very big trends.

According to its newly announced strategies, HSBC is going to have more inter-collaborative relations within its group to carry its current strength to a more powerful point. Also, I think its sustainable model will guarantee its long-term profit within the very long-term.

Within the one-year programme at HSBC, I think the most brilliant things I have experienced are the rotations with Global Markets. Actually, within this short year I have been able to touch all the three large products, which are Foreign Exchange, Equities and Credit. I think this is not the easiest thing in my life as I can get to all these fascinating things within such a short time and it's actually the quickest way for a new joiner like me to understand the market and know what I really want.

Within my business, which is Global Markets, our strategy is emerging markets-led and financing-focused. Under this strategy, we will now have stronger connectivity all around the globe and we will have a richer connection with all the clients which means a stronger coverage and a more efficient product distribution. I think this is going to bring about more opportunities within the business and Global Markets.

The most important thing embedded in HSBC's culture is the rights of its employees. Everyone, including the juniors, has the right to develop their own path for their career growth and also the way to fit ourselves into the large Group. HSBC cares about each and every one of its employees so basically the culture encourages people to take their personal goals, and feedback is really encouraged.

I want to divide my goals into two-year goals and five-year goals: within the first two years I would like to be able to touch all of the products in our team and have a close connection with the relationship managers and our clients, who are really important partners of the future. I think during this time I will have made every effort to understand our business and answer all related questions.

Within five years I hope I would be a very strong revenue generator within our team who can be very professional in client interactions and also have very strong product knowledge.
