One of the most exciting projects I have worked on was advising a client to raise capital through issuing shares. This was the very client we helped go public a couple of years ago, which emphasises our long-term relationship with the client.

When we are working on a specific project for a client we are not alone. We are working with colleagues from different offices, from different regions. Simply put, as a global financial institution we really can provide the client with a complete financial service.

I think what motivated me to join HSBC is the culture here. I had an internship with the firm and really enjoyed working with the people here. The culture really combines an entrepreneurial spirit with truly the highest standards of professionalism.

I chose Global Banking because HSBC has a really great platform in Asia, taking advantage of the global trend. In addition, on a daily basis I have a lot of opportunities to work with people from different departments on projects for clients across different sectors. There are a lot of opportunities for me to learn from their industry expertise and develop my skills to become a better banker in the industry.

My highlight at HSBC was the successful completion of a couple of important transactions in 2009 and 2010, and providing the client with creative deal structures which were accepted by investors without any resistance. It was amazing to close those transactions in very tough market conditions.

I think that thanks to the financial crisis, the banking industry has changed a lot. The business model of the pure investment bank has been challenged. I think HSBC has a truly global platform with global connectivity and local expertise in local markets, with a very strong balance sheet. All those capabilities have enabled HSBC to take advantage of the global trend, and I think those capabilities are the future of the banking industry.
