Career path

At HSBC, we are committed to your ongoing learning and development. Within your business area, you will benefit from comprehensive role-related training, as well as early responsibility within a supportive and nurturing environment.

Designated mentors will ensure you receive the support, guidance and coaching you require in your role. Your line managers, with support from our Development Advisors, will assess your performance on an ongoing basis to aid you in developing a successful career.

Towards the completion of your programme, you will participate in a formal review to plan your future career path. A variety of opportunities may be open to you based on your performance and interest.

At HSBC, we recognise and value contribution and high performance. Throughout your programme you will be encouraged to take early responsibility, giving you the opportunity to demonstrate to us your potential and what you are capable of achieving. Our high performers are recognised accordingly.

The possibilities may include developing your skills further within your existing area, gaining experience within a different role or perhaps global exposure within the HSBC network.

Continued Learning – Analysts

HSBC invests in developing its employees and as part of that effort we are committed to the continuous development of our graduate Analysts. The continued learning paths for each business area take into account the specific business needs and also reflect the feedback we have received from past graduates regarding the key skills they need to develop during the programme. The purpose of the continued learning paths is to:

  • Enhance your personal effectiveness and technical skills relevant to the business area you are placed in
  • Continue networking with other graduate colleagues across the business
  • Build your broader understanding of HSBC, its businesses, clients and areas of expertise

Continued Learning Programme – Overview

As part of the Continued Learning Programme, it is expected all graduate Analysts attend three core personal effectiveness modules within the first year of joining the Global Businesses Analyst Programme:

  • Presentation skills
  • Personal impact and networking
  • Influencing skills

Additional training and networking sessions have been identified aligned to individual business areas.

At HSBC, we are proud of the resources and talent we have in a range of professional fields, in over 80 countries and territories across the globe. HSBC employees form sophisticated networks across global businesses and locations to ensure our clients receive the most comprehensive solutions possible.

Our environment is people-driven whereby strong relationship management allows us to deliver the best service to our clients. Leveraging your networks and relationships will be crucial to your success, even in the first few days of the Analyst or MBA Associate Programme you join and extending beyond into whichever business area you become part of.

As part of your Analyst or MBA Associate Programme, you will have plenty of opportunities to meet and interact with mentors, line managers and programme sponsors. We will also organise networking receptions, social and charitable events such as music concerts, sports activities and team-building exercises.

Your programme will offer you an invaluable opportunity to network with your fellow colleagues across our global organisation, enabling you to get to know people with different backgrounds, disciplines and experiences, many of whom will be invaluable contacts as your career progresses within HSBC.
