Application and interview advice

The decision:
- Make sure that you are making an informed career decision and one that is truly right for you
The application form:
- You can complete the form in stages so take the time to ensure attention to detail, spelling and grammar
- We don't want to receive an application to one of our competitors or a cut and paste effort
- Remember that all degree disciplines are welcome but you do need to show us a genuine motivation for a career in financial services
The interview:
- Do your research properly – it shows and pays dividends! And be sure to look beyond what we have written on our website and in our brochure
- Be yourself and be honest. Integrity is one of our core values
- We are looking for strong, well-rounded individuals with wide ranging experiences that go beyond the classroom
- You should be able to express why you want to join us at HSBC and why you have chosen the programme you are applying to
- Can you tell us what sets us apart? Have you got a solid argument for why you would be suitable? Practise beforehand and come prepared
- Practise interview techniques such as the STAR technique –
Situation – what was the situation?Task – what was your task?
