Equity Capital Markets

Connecting you to markets worldwide

Operating from local markets, close to clients and investors, HSBC's Equity Capital Markets team delivers a combination of structuring expertise, distribution power and balance sheet strength tailored to client needs across a full product range.

We combine market insight and intelligence with corporate finance knowledge to develop capital raising ideas and solutions for our clients. We originate, structure and execute equity and equity-linked new issues such as initial public offerings (IPOs), secondary placements, rights issues, convertible bonds, exchangeable bonds and certain types of pre-IPO financing. As HSBC's global equity product specialist, we work closely with our global banking, equity research, and equity sales/trading teams.

Our experience encompasses a broad range of transactions from large equity follow-on offerings through to smaller IPOs. HSBC's strong balance sheet provides solid underwriting support and we have demonstrated our outstanding rights issue and event-financing capability. In European financial sector rights issues, HSBC has a particularly strong track record. Our market-leading research, sales capabilities and global distribution network help make HSBC's ECM team the bookrunner of choice for many corporations, private companies and financial sponsors throughout the world as they contemplate IPOs or follow-on offerings.

Our presence in every major developed and most of the world's emerging markets allows our clients not only to raise funds in the most suitable capital market, but also to benefit from our ability to access investors and monitor local market sentiment and conditions. This can be of real worth, especially in emerging markets, where hard facts and statistics are sometimes not available.

When clients require access to one of our other global banking products such as leveraged and acquisition finance or M&A advisory (for example) we work closely with those teams, to provide a completely seamless, bespoke solution.
