HSBC launches Emerging Markets Outperformance strategy

HSBC has launched the HSBC Emerging Markets Outperformance Strategy (EMOS), an innovative trading strategy designed to help investors benefit from the potential outperformance of emerging markets equities versus traditional developed markets equities.

The strategy is based on the fact that emerging markets increasingly have significant structural advantages over the developed markets. These include such factors as:

  • Younger (and large) growing populations
  • A more flexible labour force
  • A rapidly expanding middle-class expected to drive up domestic consumption
  • Significant natural resources
  • Healthier national balance sheets
  • Acceleration of technological and business innovation
